HYPNOSIS AND CHILDBIRTH
Having a baby is one of the most exciting experiences in a woman's life. Yet as the baby continues to grow and the due date approaches, the mother can experience discomfort. Labor can be either the most excruciating pain she has ever felt or, if prepared, can be something that she can handle with ease.
During the preparations for delivery, the mother learns self-hypnosis, pain management and visualization techniques such as glove anesthesia. Using these techniques and a 'safe place,' subconsciously she is aware of the delivery but disassociated from the discomfort that goes along with the child birth. The visualization of the 'safe space' as well as the visualization of the contractions can lead to a calm, less pressured delivery.
